George V. Brake, age 90, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2016 at Mount Carmel East Hospital. He was born in Johnstown, Ohio on May 19th, 1926 to the late Andrew C. and Elva Mae Swick Brake. A veteran of the United States Army. George retired from the United States Post Office after 32 years of dedicated service. From there he went on to spend 10 years with FedEx, and spent his final years of employment with Giant Eagle in Lewis Center. He was a Shriner and a member of the Linden Lodge #637 F&A.M. Yet, it is his legacy of kindness to others, that he will be remembered for. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Janet A. Brake; his sons, Terry (Kathy) and Dennis (Peggy Stoer) ; grandchildren, Kristin (Eric) Kjellander, Megan (Mike) Pickarski and Madison Brake; great-grandchildren: Emma, Grace and Elliott; siblings: Everett Brake and Shirley Callan; numerous niece and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Juanita Wilson and Lillian Parks. His family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8pm, Tuesday at Schoedinger Worthington Chapel, 6699 N. High Street in Worthington, where his Funeral Service will be held at 10 am, Wednesday, August 3, 2016. Pastor Jay Scott, officiating. Interment to follow at Kingwood Memorial Park.
