Ollie A. McGlone Newman, age 91, of Madison County, died Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Bluebird Retirement Community in London. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was the devoted wife of the late Rev. C. A. Newman and was a steadfast member of the Free Will Baptist denomination. She traveled extensively with her husband throughout the country fulfilling their commitment in church planting and evangelism. They pastored several churches throughout Ohio and Arizona for over 45 years, beginning in West Jefferson and retiring from Marysville Free Will Baptist Church. She was known as a superb singer and loved gospel music. She was a graduate of Carter City High School in Kentucky and was one of the first hires at Westinghouse in Columbus during the 1950’s. She loved gardening and was an excellent cook. Above all, she will be remembered for her outstanding dedication to her faith, her family and her church. She was born December 29, 1925 in Carter City, Kentucky to the late Clayton and Eunice Conley McGlone. She was also preceded in death in 2002 by her husband of 58 years, Clarence A. Newman; her siblings, Ruby Groenstein, Emma Buehler, Thelma Casdin, Jean Henderson, Ilyn Fultz, Inez Wolfe, Pansy Colleen McGlone, Glenn McGlone, Benny McGlone and Floyd McGlone; sons-in-law Tim Raburn and Jerry D. Young; and a great-granddaughter, Savannah Newman. She is survived by her children Diana (Bob) Pirkey of Martinsburg, West Virginia, Debra (Sterl) Paramore of Cookeville, Tennessee, Denise (David) Rhodes of Wendell, North Carolina, Jerry (Darlyn) Newman of London, Ohio and Jim (Lissy) Newman of West Jefferson, Ohio; her grandchildren, Jerry (Sarah) Young, Jodi (Kevin) Ward, Jill (Erik) Smith, Brian (Christa) Paramore, Brandon Paramore, Ryan (Ansley) Raburn, Bryant Raburn, Barrett (Brooke) Raburn, Brianna (Chuck) Spinks, Zachary (Elizabeth) Newman, Jason (Jennifer) Newman, Rachel (John) Stanley, Addie Gayle Newman (Nick), Andrea (Bo) Adair, Alecia (Azeem) Haqq, Jamie (Brandon) Pearson and, Zane Newman; her great-grandchildren, Newman, Reagan and Canaan Ward, Mara and Madison Wood, Alynn and Eleanor Raburn, Riley, Brayden and Bailey Raburn, Layne Spinks, Isaac, Jedediah and Faith Newman, Abigail, Chloe and Ian Newman, Addlyn , Gabriella and Campbell Stanley, Sadie Newman, Chaz Murphy, Haven, Adair, Salim, Cael and Ty Haqq; her brother, Bruce (Louise) McGlone of Carter City, Kentucky; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives. The family will receive friends 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, February 12, 2017 at West Jefferson Community Free Will Baptist Church, 130 Plain City-Georgesville Road where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday. Her son, Rev. Jerry Newman will officiate and burial will be beside her husband at Forest Grove Cemetery in Plain City. Underwood Funeral Home in Marysville is assisting the family.
